SIMON Craddock scored twice as Upton Town drew 2-2 at home to Gala Wilton Reserves.

It was another frustrating point for Town, who led twice in a Cheltenham Association League Division One thriller.

Gala Wilton threatened early on but keeper Chris Darby made two smart saves from long-range shots.

Upton’s Tom Crump chased a long ball and beat the keeper only to poke narrowly wide from 12 yards.

Craddock’s header from a John Ditchburn cross was tipped over but he smashed in the opener from six yards after a Crump free-kick.

Town had two penalty shouts waved away and a sloppy start to the second period saw Gala equalise.

Craddock made an opening to smash in his second goal and Craig Kitchener had a header saved.

But Gala levelled again 15 minutes from time following a mistake at the back.

Town pushed for a winner but Pete Jeynes fired over twice and Kitchener missed with a header close in.

Meanwhile, Welland won 6-0 at mid-table Gala Wilton thirds in Division Three.

The villagers arrived just 20 minutes before kick-off due to traffic and with 11 players missing for various reasons.

Early chances came and went but Craig Tommey found Jon Williams, who struck a 25-yarder to give Welland a 17th-minute lead.

Welland’s defence was focused but keeper Sean Gleeson saved smartly to his left.

Top-scorer Omar Elmougy extended Welland’s lead on 40 minutes with a vicious drive.

Gleeson pulled off another fine stop before the floodgates opened on 76 minutes when Gala tired.

Man-of-the-match Stacey Brimmell provided a second for Elmougy, whose corner was then diverted in for an own goal by the home keeper.

Williams grabbed his second on 88 minutes and Elmougy’s saved shot rebounded for Brimmell to tap in.

Welland visit title rivals Leckhampton Rovers tomorrow (4pm).

Simon Hardiman, Chris King and Dan Stowe scored in a 3-3 draw for Malvern Vale at Prestbury Rovers Reserves in Division Six.
