MALVERN Rugby Club product Ted Hill has been selected for the England under 16s squad to play Wales at Caerphilly on Sunday (2.30pm).

The promising back-row forward from River School will start on the bench against Wales at the CCB Centre for Sporting Excellence.

And Hill will complete a rare family double if he comes on to the field.

His older brother Max was capped by England Counties under-18s in an International Triangular Festival at Hartpury College.

Ted had skippered the successful Midlands squad in a tournament at York and caught the eye of the national squad selectors.

He is one of four North Midlands players to have been selected for the national squad and is joined on the bench by Hereford schoolboy James Scott.

Both of the Hill brothers learned their rugby at Malvern under the watchful eye of their dad Vince, who played for Malvern for several years after moving from the south-east where he had played for Metropolitan Police.

Neither of the brothers played rugby at school, so the Malvern club are proud of nurturing their talent through their early years.

They have both now graduated to the Worcester Warriors Academy, where we all hope they will progress even further.

Dad Vince said: “We are very proud of both our boys for their remarkable sporting accomplishments; a special mention must also go to The River School’s PE teacher, Stacey Crowe, who has shown a constant interest in the boys progress in both rugby and physical development.”
