MALVERN Town are on the verge of achieving their long-held aim of finishing in the West Midlands League Premier Division top six.

Les Jones’ side are nine points clear of seventh-placed Wolverhampton Casuals with just two games to go — at home to Pegasus Juniors tomorrow (3pm) and at Gornal Athletic on Saturday, May 2.

Casuals have three games in hand but with a vastly inferior goal difference, meaning Malvern are in the box seat.

The HDanywhere Stadium outfit have been chasing a top-six spot all season because it could see them entered into the FA Cup for the 2015-16 campaign.

Town could yet finish even higher as they are level on 72 points with fifth-placed Shawbury United, with both playing 40 games, and only a further two behind Ellesmere Rangers in fourth.

Town are enjoying a rich vein of form with last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Sporting Community, achieved with a Chris Parker goal, stretching their unbeaten run to eight games.

On top of their lofty league position, Malvern have already won the Worcestershire FA Senior Urn after beating Highgate United, who are top of Midland League Division One, 3-0 in the final last month.

They also have the chance to add the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup to their collection when they host Bewdley in the final on Saturday, May 9.

Malvern look for revenge over Pegasus tomorrow following a 3-2 defeat in Hereford in October when Bryan Craven was on target twice for the visitors and defender Jamie Smith got sent off.

Midfielder Reece King misses the derby clash as he completes a three-match suspension.

Meanwhile, Malvern’s HDanywhere Stadium will host the Mercian Fortis Junior League’s second finals day on Sunday.

There are four matches, starting with the under 13s girls’ Trophy World Cup final between Dudley Sports and Kewford Eagles West at 11am.

Eckington Juniors and Westbury Celtic Youth contest the under 11s boys’ Phil Jeynes Memorial Cup at 12.30pm with the Ron Handy Memorial Shield for under 12s boys at 2pm between Welland Juniors Colts and Worcester Colts.

The under 13s boys’ Trophy World Cup final featuring Oldbury Park Tigers Bengals and Kempsey Colts completes proceedings at 3.45pm.

The third and last finals day is at the same venue on Sunday, May 3.
