YOUNG Malvern Cycle Sport mountain bikers scored podium finishes in their first cross-country races in windy conditions at Cannock Chase.

Siblings Elizabeth and Harry Williamson were third in the under-10s and under-13s age groups respectively.

Brothers Jack and Tom Bristow came sixth and 10th in the under-10s race.

In the youth male category, Jack Robinson was narrowly beaten to 16th place.

All five were cheered on by club-mate and world champion Tracy Moseley.

The more experienced Hattie Harnden won the juvenile women’s race by a comfortable nine minutes.

Nathan Rigby-Howard rounded off the Malvern podium finishes with third in the junior male race.

In the expert male class, James Dickens finished 14th despite working hard to gain ground late on.

Paddy O’Toole finished fifth in the sport category, with John Gwilliam suffering issues on his final lap for 31st.

The grand veterans race saw Greg Fitzpatrick slip to 15th in a sprint for the line.

The team are set to race at Plymouth in the British Cross Country Series second round this weekend.
