MALVERN Hills Buzzards thrashed Redditch Regents 73-39 in the Worcester League at Dyson Perrins Academy.
Regents got the better of Buzzards in last year’s play-off semi-finals, so pride and points were on the line.
Both teams started strongly with positive plays, defensive rebounds and good movement around the court.
Throughout the first half, Buzzards pushed hard on offence and forced defensive fouls from Regents before making the free throws count.
A set-play from a time-out at the end of the first period saw the hosts put their mark on the game going into the break.
Buzzards added to the points during the second period, while Redditch could only respond with consolations as they could not stop the onslaught.
The Malvern side’s unbeaten run continued with five straight wins in the league.
Many positives were taken and, with new players training and the team developing, Buzzards are building for the future.
