PUPILS braved the downpours in the Hereford and Worcester County Schools’ Track and Field Championships at Nunnery Wood in Worcester.
The best competed not only for the chance to become county champion but also used the opportunity to impress selectors for the forthcoming inter-counties Mason Trophy at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.
Despite the poor conditions, which resulted in the cancellation of the sprint hurdles, high jump and pole vault events, four championships records were set.
Malvern Hills’ wins arrived in the senior boys’ relay and the long jump through Malvern College’s Nnamdi Ndili.
The Chase School’s Ben Clarke claimed the intermediate boys’ long jump.
