MALVERN Joggers’ members have had a busy period with numerous events as the autumn racing season gets started.

Five Joggers took part in a midweek evening contest organised by Almost Athletes Running Club in Cheltenham.

The Bugatti 10-kilometre race offered an on-road undulating course with Mark Cooling clocking 49 minutes 44 seconds, Julie Caseley 54.10, Mark Dillon 55.09, Mike Anstey 57.29 and Lynda Broadway 59.17.

Chris Smallman represented the club at the challenging Offa’s Dyke 15-mile race by Hay-on-Wye in a tough challenge with 2,500 feet of ascent in all and finished in two hours nine minutes 40 seconds.

Ten Joggers tackled the inaugural Pershore Plums 10-kilometre race, which offered a flat route through the town, out into the village of Wick and back to Abbey Park.

Competitors received a medal, a plum and a hot dog at the finish.

Trevor Matty ran 42.52, Adam Hall 49.48, Ewelina Skolimowska 51.18, Suzie Lane 51.30, Dillon 52.39, Steve Roode 55.21, Ian Walwyn 55.22, Vivien Tolley 1.00.35, Sarah Lane 1.01.46 and Annie Robson 1.09.00.

Nine Joggers travelled to Herefordshire for the popular Credenhill Canter, covering country lanes, trails and woodland paths.

The course was challenging in places with steep hills and technical descents.

The finish was at Credenhill Church followed by a prize presentation back at the Sports and Social Club, while money was donated to the Hereford Special Care Baby Unit.

Joggers were led home by Ben Toon in 48.10, which earned a silver medal for being second under 40s man.

Walwyn’s 51.44 secured second under 70s man, while John Bryan finished in 54.30.

Roode won bronze in the men’s under 60s section after clocking 55.09 and Caseley topped the women’s under 60s category in 56.40 with club-mate Alison Priest second in 57.36.

Skolimowska ran 58.58, Anstey 1.01.22 and Broadway 1.05.20.

Nine Joggers took part in the popular Severn Bridge Half Marathon, which was voted best new race of 2014.

They posted fine times on a scenic but challenging course.

Megan Judge led Joggers home in 1.36.57 followed by Julie Mitchell in 1.45.57, Deborah Parker 1.48.51, Cooling with a personal best of 1.50.59, Andrew Brown 1.56.42, Rachel Cashmore 1.57.39, Paula Smy 2.09.47, David Brett 2.11.48 and Annabelle Bolton 2.18.39.

A group of hardy members went out on a wet bank holiday Monday for the annual Joggers pubathon.

They took in a route around Malvern, stopping at pubs along the way and collecting for their nominated charity this year, Malvern Community Hospital.

Despite appalling weather, more than £600 was raised.
