MALVERN Joggers remained within the county as they took part in two very different events.

Six members of the running club travelled to the Clent Hills for the Waseley Wobbler organised by Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletics Club.

This is a challenging 8.5-mile race run from Waseley High School on a multi-terrain route around Waseley Hills Country Park, up into woodland towards the Lickey Hills before returning back to the finish for a well-earned medal and slice of cake.

The course included four major climbs but runners were rewarded for their efforts with spectacular views across Worcestershire.

Malvern Joggers were led home by Chris Smallman in a time of 1:03:55, followed by Trevor Matty (1:09:09), Ben Toon (1:10:55), John Bryan (1:17:13), Julie Caseley (1:23:11) and Sarah Lane (1:40:09).

Chris, Trevor and Ben were the third men’s team behind the winners Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletic Club and second place Birmingham Running and Triathlon Club.

Meanwhile, 36 members of the club took part in the second ever Worcester City 10k event organised by Events of the North, which is headed up by Steve Cram.

This 10k race is run around the streets of Worcester and offers a fast, flat course for runners looking to improve their 10k times.

Jo Pavey was the star attraction this year and didn’t let people down with a fantastic performance finishing first in the ladies’ race in a time of 33:11 showing why she is European champion over this distance.

Malvern Joggers put in some excellent performances too, led home by Sam Burnage in an impressive 39:12, followed by Stuart Day in 41:09 and Ian Walwyn who recorded a personal best time of 45:39.

Derek Goodman completed the course in 56:46.
