WORCESTER Nomads took over at the top of Worcestershire Cricket League Division One after beating winless Oldswinford.

The Bransford side triumphed thanks to a fine spell of 17 overs from skipper Ben Schiffmann, which yielded 5-31.

Colwall could have stayed ahead if they had captured the final Droitwich wicket in a rain-interrupted match.

But 11th-placed Droitwich held out and got the winning draw on run rate.

Third-placed Hagley slipped up at Stourport and Cookley are fourth after a winning draw at Worcester when Aussie Jack McVey took a season’s best 8-56.

Pedmore returned to form with a winning draw over Belbroughton thanks to Paul Pickering’s 134, which followed the visitors’ James Wilson’s 124.

Third-placed Wormelow’s Australian star Lachlan Hartley scored 71 not out to boost his aggregate in three games to 343 and also took six catches as Bromyard were out for 127 in 41 overs.

Chaddesley Corbett’s new signing Ibrahim Jiva recorded 104 not out in a winning draw at Bredon.

Feckenham recorded a similar draw at Coombs Wood.

There was a winning draw for Alvechurch and Hopwood from fewer overs than Evesham were scheduled to receive. In Division Three, Bartestree remained at the top of the table after their Australian Ben Chaplin scored 211 not out.

His efforts secured the winning draw at home to Barnards Green thirds, who battled hard to avoid defeat.

In Division Four, Martley established a lead of eight points above Alveley after they beat Himley thanks to 112 from the bat of Pat Bibby and Pete Gardner’s 6-15.

Alveley beat Halesowen and are joint second with Five Ways Old Edwardians, who won at Oldswinford after skittling them for 49.

Kidderminster are joint second as they beat eight-man Claverley, Hanley Castle and Upton saw off Stourport and Astwood Bank drew with Bromsgrove.

West Malvern are the only 100 per cent side in Division Five after beating Droitwich thirds thanks to 121 not out from Will Lloyd.

Tenbury were restricted to a losing draw by Hallow as Scott Hodgetts made 133 and Colin Stratford took 6-43.

Barnt Green won at Enville with 6-46 from Jake Johnstone and Stourbridge beat Old Elizabethans, while Old Hill and Redditch drew.
