WORCESTER Nomads continued their excellent start to the season with a comprehensive 127-run home win against struggling Droitwich in Worcestershire League Division One.

Innocent Kaia (51) and Sam Roberts (51) laid the foundations for the leaders’ 256-8 with an opening stand of 101 and then Richard Henry (58) and Oli Swift (40) lifted the run-rate.

Despite the efforts of Jake Young (32) and Max Young (26), Droitwich lost wickets regularly and were shot out for 129 in the 38th over after Kaia snapped up 4-8 from four overs.

Colwall are second in the table after a 145-run victory against Stourport, while Hagley are third following a 84-run home win against Worcester thanks to Amjad Ali taking 6-48.

Cookley, newly-promoted with Stourport, are maintaining their good form with a comfortable 134-run win against Pedmore.

Jack McVey whipped out six Pedmore batsmen to take his tally to 19 in four games.

Burghill won again, beating Belbroughton thanks to Ben Owens’ 122 not out and they have climbed another four places to fifth.

Worcester Dominies lost a tight match at Enville after Matt Branch scored 108 not out for the hosts.
