A BRANSFORD member was among 19 to qualify for England Golf’s Gold Medal Tournament national final to find the male handicap golfer of the year.

They qualified from regional finals at Ingestre Park, Staffordshire, and Burnham and Berrow in Somerset.

Bransford’s Steve Collins and the others will play off for the title alongside qualifiers from two other regional finals on Friday, August 12, at Frilford Heath, Oxfordshire.

Collins progressed from Ingestre Park along with Robert Dickinson of Sudbrook Moor, Lincolnshire; Roman Toloczko of Scraptoft, Leicestershire; Matthew King of Ely City, Cambridgeshire; Gavin Rogers of Stock Brook Manor, Essex; Matthew Phillips of Ingon Manor, Warwickshire; Ron Logan and Christopher Bryan of the host club and Ralph Richards of Oakmere Park Commanders, Nottinghamshire.

The qualifiers from Burnham and Berrow were Stephen Dawes of Tewkesbury Park Hotel Golf and Country Club, Gloucestershire; Brian Winteridge of Churston, Devon; Graham Virgin of Saunton, Devon, Christopher Hicks of Clevedon, North Somerset; Russell Weller and Steve Crabb of Bridport and West Dorset; James Barnes of Shirehampton Park in Bristol; Nigel Hoskins of Fingle Glen, Devon; Graham Anstey of The Kendleshire, Gloucestershire; and Martin Lee of Frilford Heath, Oxfordshire.

All the regional finalists won a club medal during 2015.

The national final will be played during England Golf Week, which is staged to create a national grand finale for a host of handicap and team championships.
