COLWALL increased their Worcestershire League Division One title hopes with a six-wicket home win against rivals Worcester Nomads.

The Herefordshire side have leapfrogged Nomads to take over pole position in the battle for promotion to the Birmingham & District Premier League.

Nomads, missing two key batsmen and two bowlers, were restricted to 194-7 despite 71 from James Ganderton.

Nomads were well beaten by an efficient Colwall side who look capable of going all the way with a draw option available in the return last match of the season.

Colwall lead by 12 points but behind Nomads there is still a gap of 27 points as Hagley and Burghill both suffered defeats.

Hagley lost by just 14 runs at home to Bewdley, while Burghill travelled to Worcester and were well beaten as Mo Adeel cracked a superb 144 for the home side.

Stourport have climbed above Burghill into fourth place after winning at Pedmore.

Worcester have drawn level with Burghill, 47 points off the lead but could mount a challenge in the second half.

Cookley were too good for Oldswinford and Belbroughton edged home by one wicket against struggling Droitwich, who closed the gap on Pedmore by five points.

Division Two leaders Redditch stretched their lead to 50 points and look destined to be crowned champions within weeks.

Their star, in a total of 393 all out, was Mo Choudry who made 231 off 110 balls which included 10 fours and 24 sixes against a shell-shocked Bromyard attack.

Bromyard replied with 192-3 including an unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 188 between Ed Oliver and Rob Willis but they are among the relegation spots.

Bredon boosted their chances of avoiding the drop with a win at Alvechurch with 139 not out scored by Martin Hill in reply to Edd Rodgers' 113.

Evesham slipped to an eight-run defeat against Coombs Wood, while Worcester Dominies enjoyed a seven-wicket win against Wormelow despite 84 from Australian Lachlan Hartley.
