WORCESTERSHIRE League Division One leaders Worcester Nomads increased their lead at the top to 46 points after they turned the tables on Stourport.

Nomads' spin trio made good use of a dusty track after Stourport had restricted the home side to 240.

The team that has shadowed Nomads for most of the season, Colwall, suffered a rare home defeat at the hands of tight-game specialists Worcester, who won by one wicket in the final over and moved above Stourport to stand just seven points behind Colwall.

With six rounds remaining, last season’s relegated Birmingham League outfit may soon be the only team who can challenge Nomads and they meet at their home ground on Saturday as they try to do the double over the leaders following a two-wicket win earlier in the campaign.

Elsewhere, it was relegation that was on everyone’s lips as Oldswinford, long regarded as certain to drop down, won for a second week in succession, beating fifth-placed Burghill to close the gap on Belbroughton and Droitwich, who both lost again.

Belbroughton fell at Cookley thanks to Jamen Rudd’s 100 and Droitwich were no match for Charlie Eastoe’s fine 98 for Bewdley.

Despite the previous week’s victory, Pedmore crashed back to earth, losing at Hagley.

Division Two leaders Redditch lost again and saw their once massive advantage decline to just 10 points as Chaddesley’s Ibrahim Jiva made 98 in his side’s victory chase.

Feckenham and Coombs Wood had comfortable wins against Worcester Dominies and Bredon respectively.

In other games, Lye beat Wormelow and there were vital wins for Alvechurch and Bromyard as they scrap to avoid relegation.

Bottom side Alvechurch beat Enville and were leapfrogged by Bromyard in 10th after they beat Evesham.

In Division Three, Harborne lost at home to Old Vigornians after Charlie Lamb scored 109 not out to enable the visitors to eclipse Harborne’s 308-9.

OVs closed the gap on the leaders to just 13 points as they leapt above previously second-placed Bartestree, who lost heavily at bottom side Cleobury Mortimer.

Bartestree’s defeat also enabled Kempsey to get back in the promotion hunt after a resounding 209-run win over local rivals Barnards Green with Adam Baker claiming 5-21 for the villagers.

Netherton beat Ross-on-Wye with Dan Lowe grabbing 5-22 from 10 overs and Himbleton defeated Avoncroft thanks to new skipper Alistair Pretty’s 111. In the final game, Malvern had a rare win, eclipsing Rushwick’s 284-6 and giving themselves some hope of survival.

In Division Four, there was no change at the top after leaders Five Ways Old Edwardians had Jon Bassett’s 5-20 as their main reason for thrashing fourth-placed Astwood Bank and Martley’s Dominic Jones made 108 in his side’s 200-run win at Claverley.

Bromsgrove beat Halesowen and are third, 27 points adrift of Martley.

Tom Rhodes of Himley scored 75 and took 5-34 in his side’s defeat of Alveley, while Kidderminster thrashed Stourport and Hanley Castle and Upton had a narrow 14-run success at home to bottom side Oldswinford to jump from 11th to ninth in the table.

Division Five leaders Tenbury extended their lead to 26 points by defeating Stourbridge and West Malvern strengthened their hold on the runners-up spot with three rounds left as they beat Hallow thanks to Phil Chaundy’s 108 not out.

Barnt Green beat Redditch Entaco by 203 runs and Old Hill defeated Droitwich by just 13 runs.

Old Elizabethans’ challenge for the top appears to be stalling after they were unable to take the final Enville wicket and had to settle for a draw.
