WORCESTERSHIRE Cricket League Division One leaders Worcester Nomads escaped most of the effects of the rain and skittled struggling Pedmore for 58 with Rich Henry taking 6-14.

The Bransford side then knocked the runs off without loss in fewer than eight overs to end the match at just after 5pm following a leisurely tea.

Their lead at the top is now 61 points with Colwall not so lucky with the weather as their match with Belbroughton was called off.

Third-placed Stourport could not fully capitalise as they were held to a winning draw by Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social.

Worcester, in fourth, drew with Bewdley in a rain-reduced game but Cookley won at Hagley to ease their relegation fears.

With Droitwich and Burghill, Tillington and Weobley also off, it could be a fight between Belbroughton and Pedmore to accompany Oldswinford down to Division Two.

The only game called off in Division Two was at fifth-placed Worcester Dominies, who effectively ruled themselves and their opponents Coombs Wood out of the reckoning.

Third-placed Feckenham are now 42 points in front of Wood.

Redditch rushed to a 20-point, seven-wicket victory over Bredon and Chaddesley Corbett were in even more of a hurry as they thrashed bottom side Alvechurch and Hopwood.

Chaddesley remain 27 points behind Redditch but crucially three ahead of Feckenham, who beat Wormelow with Mo Idrees scoring 87.

Bromyard defeated Enville to strengthen their chances of survival and Evesham saw off Lye thanks to 123 from Mo Saqib.

Harborne stretched their lead to 31 points in Division Three after a nervous four-wicket win over Avoncroft, while Worcester's Old Vigornians slipped up at home to Netherton.

The result meant Kempsey, who won a rain-reduced match at home to Cleobury Mortimer, are just three points behind OVs and their dream of a third successive promotion is alive.

Mid-table dwellers Himbleton and Bartestree and Lugwardine were off and the tussle for the bottom place was centred at Rushwick, who beat Ross-on-Wye.

They are 59 points ahead of 11th Malvern, whose match against rivals Barnards Green fell victim to the elements.

In Division Four, Five Ways Old Edwardians’ lead over Martley grew by one point to four as they got 20 by inserting and then thrashing Halesowen, while their rivals were held to a draw by Kidderminster.

Astwood Bank drew with Hanley Castle and Upton and Bromsgrove and Himley were rained off as were Claverley and Alveley.

Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social had a winning draw with Stourport and reduced the gap from safety to 14 points.

In Division Five, both the leaders Tenbury and second-placed West Malvern were rained off.

Hallow were unfortunate to be unable to make any headway on the leaders as their match at home to Old Hill was also washed out and Old Elizabethans in fourth were due to have been at West Malvern.

The only match played saw the two bottom sides fighting out a draw and Enville are now one point behind Redditch.
