BRANSFORD seniors bounced back with a 5-1 home success over Puckrup Hall after losing narrowly at Abbey Redditch.

Four of the seven four-ball matches were halved against Redditch and just one hole separated the two other clashes.

Against Abbey, Rob Blake (15) and Peter Harrison (24) halved, Ian Hamilton (11) and Paul Edlin (24) halved, Harry Godwin (14) and Roy Burston (12) lost 3&2, Ferey Ghani (13) and Dave Miller (18) halved, Mike Davidge (17) and John Phillips (22) won one-up, Ivor Lloyd (22) and Neil Sheldon (21) halved and Trevor Atkinson (14) and Phil Spencer (23) lost one-down.

Against Puckrup, Blake and Dick Bettsworth (27) lost one-down, Alan Wallcroft (21) and Roger Clark (22) won two-up, Atkinson and Miller won 4&3, Hamilton and Ted Buckett (19) won 4&3, Gerry Rebbeck (15) and Andy Lamb (26) won one-up and Phillips and Sheldon won 6&4.

The seniors’ September medal saw Roy Burston (12 handicap) win Division One after posting the lowest gross of 84.

This was two better than Ferey Ghani (13) and he scored 72 nett to his rival’s 73. Third was Charlie Payne with 89-14=75 and Gerry Rebbeck finished fourth with 92-15=77.

Division Two scores were Lee Dyment 92-20=72, Dave Randle 94-20=74, John Phillips 97-22=75 and Roger Clark 98-22=76.

Division Three results were Roy Mayo 98-25=73, Allen Rowberry 104-26=78, Paul Edlin 104-24=80 and Malcolm Bradley 109-27=82.

Ivor Lloyd (17) won September stableford Division One with 39 points, two ahead of Bob McGrath (18), with Anne Hamilton (19) third on 36.

Division Two was also won with 39 as Harry Corbett (20) pipped Phillips (22) on count-back, while Phil Spencer (23) managed 38.

Leading scores in Division Three were Geoff Aston (26) 43, John Hunaban (28) 37 and Rowberry (27), Cynthia Holmes (32) and Dick Bettsworth (27) 36.

The men’s section held a Texas scramble.

Steve Bourne’s team won on 59.7 with Mitchell Fowles’ side managing 60.5 and Steve Mrvic’s group 60.8.

Meanwhile, Worcestershire Parent & Carers’ Community received a cheque for £1,629 from last year’s seniors captain Phillips.
