HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle admits he needs the Bulls faithful to help his side to victory following a "flat atmosphere" during parts of Tuesday night's game against Larkhall Athletic.

Despite another encouraging crowd of 2,140 inside Edgar Street, there was a lack of singing from the fans, especially in the first half when Hereford struggled to create many chances.

"They want us to entertain, which we want to do and that's the style of football we want to play," said Beadle.

"We've got wide men on the pitch, lots of forwards on the pitch and we want to entertain.

"But sometimes we need their help.

"I thought in the first half it was really flat, not only us as a team but the crowd as well.

"It was almost like they were waiting for something to happen, whereas last year it was all new and exciting and they were singing the whole game.

"It would have been just nice for them, the twelfth man, to get us going again.

"Because sometimes we need them, we need them more than ever when we are a little bit flat.

"When we did raise the tempo we're a very good side and we'll cause anyone problems."

It took Hereford a while to get into the game and it wasn't until the 24th minute – when John Mills headed wide – that the Bulls threatened the Larkhall goal.

Tristan Plummer then saw an effort tipped over the bar by Larkhall goalkeeper Josh Dempsey, before the stopper pulled off a fantastic save to thwart a Joel Edwards header.

But two goals in two minutes in the second half swung the game in Hereford's favour.

First, Pablo Haysham rifled the ball home in the 58th minute before Mills doubled the advantage.

Larkhall threatened a comeback when substitute Tom Knighton slotted home with 11 minutes left, but Hereford held on for another three points which takes them seven points clear at the top of Southern Football League Division One South & West.
