HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle is hopeful the Bulls will wrap up the signature of a new centre-back tonight.

The player - who Beadle has described as being a very experienced defender who has played at a level much higher than the Bulls - will be training with the club at Tewkesbury.

If completed, he will be the second centre-back to arrive at Edgar Street in the past week following the arrival of Mark Preece.

There has been widespread speculation that the player is Clayton Fortune, who has recently been released by National League South side Weston-super-Mare.

Fortune, who started his career at Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Bristol City, was on trial at Hereford United in 2012.

But Beadle would not be drawn on whether the rumours were true when we spoke to him earlier, saying a number of players have recently been released by Weston and it's easy to make the link.

Calvin Dinsley, meanwhile, will be playing his last game of a one month loan spell this Saturday at home to Bideford.

Hereford will then discuss terms with his parent club Gloucester City to see whether he will remain at Edgar Street.

Ryan Green is also available for the Bideford game after being suspended for Tuesday night's win over Larkhall Athletic.

The only players that are set to miss out are injured pair Jamie Cuss and Chris Parry.

Meanwhile, Beadle has confirmed that Mangotsfield United and Cinderford Town were interested in signing goalkeeper Alex Harris prior to him linking up with Lydney Town on a dual registation deal.

"He wanted to stay but said he needed some more games, which is understandable," said Beadle.

"We couldn't send him out on loan to teams in the same league or the league above because we could only put in 28 days notice if we wanted to recall him.

"I spoke to Mark Lee at Lydney if he wanted to keep Alex for a month and, to be fair he said he was going to get in touch with me about him anyway."
