A SPECIAL competition was staged at Bransford to mark the departure of two of the senior section’s stalwarts, husband and wife Ian and Anne Hamilton.

The Hamiltons, club members for the past 17 years, are returning north of the border next month to live in the Nairn area.

During their time at Bransford, both have won major club competitions.

Anne is a past captain of the ladies, while Ian has captained both the main club and the seniors.

In recent years, he also served as the club’s treasurer and carried out a similar role with the seniors.

The Wee Farewell to the Hamiltons competition was a nine-hole Texas scramble with each pair playing off three-16ths of their joint handicaps.

The joint winners were Ivor Lloyd and Ted Buckett (5 handicap) and Phil Spencer and Barry Benge (7), who each had 29 nett, with Ken Jones and Alan Wallcroft (8) third on 30.

Two popular and long-serving Bransford members Dave Lumsden and Alan McPherson have died of cancer.

Both were former club captains and in recent years McPherson also served as club secretary.

A second turkey trot by the main club saw Gordon Jack (9) finish first with 44 points, two ahead of Chris Large (9), while Jodie Bennett (17) was third on 41.

Rob Richards (11) scored 40, Stuart Crump (10), Harry Chadwick (5), Ian Bowman (6), Ian Pritchard (11) 39 and Harry Corbett (21), Graham Wallace (2) and Jason Keane (19) all 38.
