SIX pars and a birdie ensured Richard Steele took top spot on Age Matters Day at Bransford Golf Club when he collected the Stan Parnell Memorial Trophy.
Steele (15 handicap) showed real nerve on the 18th hole in the seniors' stableford competition to ensure he won by a point with a par five to notch up 41.
Malcolm Bradley (28) was runner-up on 40 as his round contained three pars.
Other leading scores were Dick Bettsworth (26) 39, Mike Davidge (17) 28, Graham Wilks (17) 37, Rob Wetton (23) 37, John Knowles (24) 36, Brian Taylor (24) 35 and Leigh Thomas (18) 35.
Bransford seniors saw a winning run of five matches end when they visited Tewkesbury Park with the home club just edging the match result 3½-2½.
Bransford's Dave Miller (17) and Ivor Lloyd (18) won against Alan Williams (16) and Chris Mathews (19) 4&3 but Rob Blake (15) and Paul Edlin (23) lost to Rod Gillett (17) and Peter Wood (15) 2&1.
Trevor Atkinson (15) and John Phillips (21) lost to Nick Crowle (11) and Rob Musson (26) 3&2 while Roy Williams (20) and Brian Lawrence (22) halved against Alan Laughlin (12) and Mel Hemmings (16).
Mike Davidge (17) and Neil Sheldon (21) won against Dave Luckett (9) and Dave Wall (17) two-up but Ferey Ghani (13) and Mike Holmes (28) lost to Mike Hurst (19) and Vic Coles (24) two-down.
