MALVERN have been boosted by the return of former head coach Nick Tisdale for pre-season training.

Tisdale, who is head of rugby at Malvern College, has agreed to help out with the skills training for the forwards.

Director of rugby Rob Cook said he was delighted to have Tisdale on board as they prepare for the Midlands Two West (South) campaign.

He is also keen to see the club’s youngsters push for first team places during pre-season.

“We want the older members of the youth section – from under 16s upwards – to join the senior squad for pre-season conditioning and skills training sessions,” Cook said.

“Any of the Colts age group who are identified as ready for senior rugby will automatically be promoted to the senior squad, just as they were so successfully last season.”

While Cook wouldn’t be drawn on any new signings at this early stage, he did confirm that some discussions had been opened with a few players.

“We also have the bonus of more regular appearances from Ieuan Mustow, who has been transferred from Scotland with his career in the Royal Marines,” Cook added.

“Jack Longley returns to the squad, having been out for a year after a broken leg.”

Cook says he has also lined up a friendly with his former club Nuneaton next month.
