MALVERN Town have returned to training in preparation for their West Midlands League Premier Division campaign.

Manager Les Jones and his coaches got the chance to assess their squad for the first time after their summer break.

Town finished fourth last season and Jones is determined to push for promotion next term despite losing a number of key players, including top scorer Dave Reynolds to Worcester City.

He has recruited striker Kyonn Evans, forward Ben Evans and defenders Jay Saunston and Jake Wilcox.

Kyonn Evans and Wilcox also scored in Malvern’s opening pre-season game as they came from behind to beat Bromyard Town 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Jones said: “It was a good run out.

“We used 22 players with two different sides going out in each half and it worked really well.

“We went 1-0 down, but we then dominated and created lots of chances in the second half.

“It was a good fitness exercise for us and we were able to get blow away some cobwebs.”
