WORCESTER Warriors stars gave youngsters a taste of what it is like to be a professional rugby player when they held a camp in Malvern.
More than 150 children between the ages of 10 to 16 attended the five-day camp at Malvern College where Warriors’ players, including Chris Pennell, Bryce Heem and Jonny Arr passed on their invaluable knowledge about the game.
Malvern’s Ted Hill and Ledbury’s Will Butler were also among 17 players from the Aviva Premiership club to talk to participants with some coming from as far afield as Canada solely for the annual event.
As well as lessons on nutrition and hydro recovery there were also fitness sessions, position-specific rugby training and grappling and wrestling as youngsters were put through their paces.
Sam Johnson, community rugby events coordinator at Warriors, said: “We had a fantastic week at Malvern where a huge number of participants enjoyed the camp.
“The players came down and delivered a morning of coaching and passing on their knowledge which is always hugely beneficial for the youngsters.”
