MIKE Weaver edged out Alan Ford in Bransford Golf Club's seniors’ champion of winter event.

The contest was played off the white tees by members who won a winter competition.

In sunny conditions with drying ground, Weaver pipped Ford on countback after both scored 37.

A rabbits competition for those who did not bag a first place in the past six months went to Graham Wilks with 38 off the yellow tees with Neil Holbrow managing 37.

In the champion of winter, John Ballard got 35 with 22 on the back nine, Gerry McCurry 35, Trevor Atkinson 34 and Terry Martin 33.

In the rabbits competition, Rob Blake managed 34, Rob Lawrence and Mike Davidge 33, Gordon White 32 and Pauline Wetton 31.

The sixth and final round of the winter league produced clear winners.

Division One went to Ford with 121, six ahead of Atkinson whose best three rounds totalled 115.

Alan Cockill got 112, Mark Heason and Roy Burston 111, Lee Dyment 109, Dave Parry 108 and Davidge 107.

The Division Two title was won by Weaver on 123, five ahead of Dave Ryall while Rob Wetton was on 110.

Geoff Aston got 106, Andrew Jarvis 101 and Dave Lindsay 99.

The Division Three leader was McCurry with 112 and Charlie Hawkridge had 107.

Martin Linley managed 104 and Roger Steade 103 while Roy Mayo and Allen Rowberry totalled 98.

In the final round, Ford (12 handicap) scored 39 in Division One while Cockill (19) had 38 and both Burston (12) and Heason (13) 37.

Ryall (21) got 39 in Division Two ahead of Ivor Lloyd (2) on 35 and Jarvis (23) and Linley (23) on 34.

Division Three’s final round went to Mayo (25) with 32 while two points in arrears were Rowberry (28) and Steve Littlewood (28) and then came Steade (28) on 29 along with White (26).

Bransford seniors opened their summer programme of club matches in style with a 6-2 win at Burghill Valley.

The main section held the captain’s drive-in with some excellent scores.

Ollie Walker took first place on countback after he and Andrew Downie both amassed 40 points in relatively tricky conditions.

Third went to Andy Lammas on 39.
