CLUB secretary Mick Perks won the third of Malvern Anglers’ spring league contests.

On a mild, overcast morning on Charley’s pool at Broadacre Fishery, the pool was carrying lots of colour from heavy rain that perhaps caused the fish some difficulty in feeding in many pegs.

However, Perks fished up to the end of an island with pole tackle and red maggots bait to temp several carp up to 4lb and some other smaller fish to finish with a winning weight of 20lb 10oz 0dr.

On the other side of the pool in more open water, Rory Jones also used pole-fished maggots to finish second with 14-15 that included an impressive silver fish weight of 12-4.

Gary Kennett tempted two good-sized carp on bread bait towards the end of the match to add to some earlier silver fish caught on maggot to finish in third place with 10-14.

Frank Edwards caught 8-6, Clive Harman 8-2, Paul Bayliss 6-14, Steve Warren 5-3, Nigel Bayliss 3-8, Lee Harman 3-7 and Paul Lane 3-5.
