BARNARDS Green A have been crowned Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League county champions.

They won Worcester Division One for the second successive year before beating Coombs Wood in the Worcestershire semis and Avoncroft in the final.

Against Wood, Green dismissed their opponents for 83 and won on 84-1 with one over left.

The Black Country side had two players bowled in the first two overs before A Saeed (18) was run out on the last ball.

They were helped by 32 wides.

Ryan Tongue and Andy Ford found scoring just as problematic with Green on 44-1 at halfway.

Ollie Swift (21) looked more comfortable than Tongue, who retired after two fours in the 11th over, and with wickets and an over in hand Green passed the post with 26 wides conceded.

In the final, Green dismissed Avoncroft for 81 and won on 84-1 with four overs remaining.

Adam Rodway retired for the villagers who only had 42 runs after six overs and then lost Paul Athey (17) to an unfortunate run out.

Green were more fluent with Ford retiring and Tongue (24no) hitting the winning runs with Dannie Rees in the eighth over.

Tongue received the Granger Trophy on behalf of the team.
