MALVERN Triathlon Club's Abi Senior competed in her first event of the year at the Stratford Sprint Triathlon.

She delivered a five-minute improvement on her 2017 time finishing in one hour eight minutes 37 seconds to secure an age category win and 10th woman overall out of a field of over 700 competitors.

Eva Holden competed alongside 28 others in the Oldbury White Horse Youth Triathlon, coming fourth in the nine to 10 year event (TriStar 1).

She completed her 150-metre swim, two-kilometre bike ride and 1km run in 17.53.65 to go second in the West Midlands leaderboard.

Malvern youth members aged eight participated in the new Tewkesbury TriStar event aimed at primary school children in years three, four and six.

William Massey, Finlay Skene and Lucas Dutton raced against others aged between 8 and 14.

All three performed strongly in the swim, bike, run and during the transitions.

Stephen Clarke entered his second standard triathlon at Lake 32 in the Cotswolds involving a one-mile swim, 24 miles on the bike and 10km running.

Completing in 2.52, Clarke shaved 30 minutes off his personal best.

Seven club members competed in the early-season open-water Worcester Lakeside Triathlon near Holt Heath.

Five entered the  challenging standard event alongside 78 others which involved a one-mile swim, 38-mile hilly bike section and 10km run.

Henry Walker completed in 2.56.19 for ninth overall while Jayne Ackroyd finished third in the 50-plus veteran category in 3.37.20 and Lucy Poole first in the 40-plus veteran event in 3.39.19.

George Mundy completed in 3.42.01, Gulab Chauhan in 3.47.25 and Chris Burrows in 3.58.46.

Heather Kirk and John Bryan entered the sprint event with distances half that of the standard event.

Bryan completed in 1.43.13 and Kirk 1.52.20 for second in the veteran 40-plus category.
