FORMER Olympic swimmers Mark Foster and Katy Sexton made a special visit to Malvern to coach more than 50 youngsters.

Joined by a team of specialist coaches, the Mark Foster Swimming Academy welcomed swimmers aged 9-18 to Malvern Active's Malvern College Sports Complex for its one-day training camp last Friday.

Sharing their winning techniques, swimmers were put through their paces both in and out of the water by six-time world champion Foster and Sexton who was the first British woman to win a World Championship title.

Alan Jones, who took his son to the coaching camp, said: “My son had a brilliant day and has already begun using the ideas in his training.”

Speaking after the event, Foster said: “It’s hugely important we reach sport at grassroots level, giving something back and encouraging further development by passing our knowledge and expertise to the next future champions.

“It was wonderful to see so much young talent in one day and we look forward to returning to Malvern Active.”
