COLWALL cruised through in the National Village Knockout Cup with a 92-run victory over Aston Ingham in the regional final.

Casting aside poor batting form, Colwall amassed a daunting 264-5 on a fine wicket and although their Gloucestershire League Division Three hosts hit out powerfully they were bowled out for 172 with 23 balls left.

Teenager Fergus Cameron was involved in a 27-run opening stand with Ben Febery and 114 for the second wicket with skipper Ben Cooke who was caught for 65 including 12 fours.

Cameron followed for a resolute 58 before Ben Wheeler slammed five sixes in a rapid 62 not out during a stand of 56 with James Abel (38).

Home openers David Skyrme (25) and Josh Loade (29) saw off accurate pace from Mike Gooch and Dan Newby but Ash Jones took two quick wickets.

Although Oliver Henson (33) and Jack Carpenter (23) kept runs coming the spinners dispensed with the middle order.

James Wagstaffe took one wicket and brothers James and Ben Febery two each.

Oli Dennis (38) briefly revived home hopes but Jones returned for two more wickets and Gooch helped Colwall ease home.

Colwall could not produce that batting form 24 hours earlier as they tumbled to 101 all out and defeat by seven wickets at Hagley in Worcestershire League Division One.

They slipped to 60-8 at one stage with only Ben Febery (20) and Cooke (12) reaching double figures.

Ninth-wicket pair John Card (20) and Gooch (19) resisted but both fell as Colwall closed on 101 with 18 overs left.

Gooch and Ben Febery took wickets in reply but they were scant consolation.

Colwall seconds impressed all-round in an 84-run Division One victory over Hagley.

Kit Lister (18), Nick Panniers (50) and Andy Bishop (30) started well before the middle order contributed to a total of 180.

Jones (2-7) ripped out both openers before fine catches helped Steve Coffey (4-31) and Panniers (2-0 from three overs) dismiss the middle order.

A wicket each for Dom Bannister and Stu Martin then saw the visitors skittled for 86.

In Marches League Division Two, Steve Wright batted through Colwall thirds' innings again but could only salvage a losing draw at Luctonians seconds.

John Henry took 2-14 in 10 overs during Luctonians' 206 with Dick Tugwell taking two quick victims, Chris Conlon 3-25 and Alex Chopping three wickets.

Wright and Tugwell put on 33 for the first wicket but once the latter was bowled the opener lacked support as Colwall fell behind.

Chopping (16) helped Wright (75 not out) secure the draw with 127-7.

Colwall fourths battled but went down by three wickets at home to Division Four visitors Kington seconds.

Phil Steers (41) and Simon Oliver (26) started solidly before a rapid 36 from Adam Greaves including two sixes boosted the total to 154-4 from 40 overs.

Kington struggled at 72-5 with Menno Recordon, Cam Smith and Mark Lessimore taking two wickets each but a tail-end rally saw them home with overs in hand.
