MALVERN Town's players and staff came together at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium for a pre-season briefing with the new managerial duo.

Dene Whittal-Williams and Lee Hooper laid out their vision for the West Midlands League Premier Division club after an address from chairman Chris Pinder.

There were also contributions from reserve team manager Peter Daffin, under 18s boss Stewart Watkins and sports therapist Laura Whitehead.

The second part of the evening saw each team break away for sessions where the players had their say on the campaign ahead.

“It was massively important to get everyone together in this way as part of our one club philosophy,” said co-manager Whittal-Williams.

“We want to be able to get the message out there to show how the under 18s, reserves and first team can all interact and work together in order to achieve success as a club.

“I felt the evening went really well. The lads have bought in to what we are trying to do and the second part of the evening allowed them to have their say on how they intend to achieve success which proved to be a most useful exercise.

“The evening was really positive and led into Saturday where the lads underwent a series of tests before we get the footballs out on Tuesday and raise the intensity to a high level.

“We’ll have another session on Thursday which will not be quite as intense as we prepare for our first pre-season friendly against Worcester City.

“There’s a good balance of opposition coming up during pre-season and it will provide a nice test for us as we aim to hit the ground running when the season gets under way.”

Town host Midland League Premier Division neighbours Worcester City on Saturday (3pm) before facing Southern Premier League new boys Alvechurch on Thursday, July 12.

Seven days later Malvern host Dudley before a trip to Newent Town on Saturday, July 21, where the reserves do battle first before the respective first teams lock horns.

It is a similar double-header on Saturday, July 28, when Malvern welcome Stonehouse Town of the Gloucestershire League before rounding off the month with the visit of Littleton on Tuesday, July 31.
