BARNARDS Green under 17s won two T20 Blast games against local rivals Worcester Nomads.

In the first match Nomads openers Sam Jones (50 retired) and Harvey Groves (53ret) put on over 100 in 15 overs.

Charlie Kerr (18 not out) and Jake Williams (24no) then helped Nomads finish on 164-0.

After losing Callum Morris (14) lbw in the third over, Harvey Smedley and Ben Bromage kept up with the eight-an-over required throughout in a 122-run partnership.

Bromage hit nine fours in his 39-ball 52 retired and Smedley 50 not out from 52 balls with six fours and a six.

George White (12no) struck two late cuts as Green won in the 18th over.

In the second game Green's Ryan Tandy-Smith made a rapid 18 then Bromage (27) and Ollie Halion put on 60 in seven overs.

Halion retired on 50 off 40 balls with six fours.

But regular wickets stalled Green who finished on 147-9.

In reply, Nomads were bowled out for 121 in 19.1 overs with Luke Haffield taking 3-10, Smedley 2-17 and Bromage 2-17 while Groves (27) top scored.

Meanwhile, Green took a seven-point losing draw at home to fourth-placed Shifnal in Birmingham League Division One.

The fifth-from-bottom Malvern side survived on 223-8 from 55 overs after their visitors opened with a daunting 311-6.

Worcestershire's George Rhodes took 3-64 from 17 overs before top scoring with 64 off 100 balls when opening in the reply with Green missing captain Ryan Tongue who was away.

Will Dovey weighed in with 33 from 55 deliveries after top-order batsmen Adam Wiffen (23), Oli Swift (21) and Dannie Rees (18) fell short.

Jack Mackintosh (16no) and Jack Cullity (4no) held on in the end despite 4-70 from Chad Brandrick.

Ross Aucott (92no), Ed Beard (84) and Steve Leach (65) starred for Shifnal after they won the toss at a hot, dry North End Lane.

In Second XI Division Two South, Green took a winning draw after scoring 246-8 before Old Elizabethans replied with 229-8.

Fourteen-year-old Rehaan Edavalath hit 72 and Andy Wheeler 78 while Tanbir Ahmed took 4-26 alongside 3-51 from Lewis Regan and a first league wicket for Sam Clarke.

Green thirds lost by 83 runs to Netherton in Worcestershire League Division Seven.

Netherton hit 284-6 with 14-year old Ollie Davies taking 2-40 along with a brace of wickets for brothers Ant and Danny Eyles.

Neil Morris scored 49no and Nick Davies 35 in Green's 201 all out while Ant Eyles followed his 35-ball 111 the previous week with 54.

Thirteen-year-old Haffield batted again with maturity for 19 at number 10.
