THE Grannies Cup was fiercely contested at The Worcestershire.

Alison Tuck took top spot in Division One and the prestigious cup with 40 points which included birdies at the first, fifth and seventh holes.

Di Wilde was second on 37 and Joyce Duncan, recovering from injury, third on 36.

In Division Two, Liz Rooney recovered from mishaps on the second and third holes to reach the turn with 19 points and matched it on the back.

But Jane Poynder went one better with a score of 39 while Brenda Lowe finished third with 37.

In the nine-hole stableford, Pauline Taylor recorded a one-under-par round of 19 to win ahead of Betty Hakes on 18 and Evelyn Hill on 16.

The men’s midweek medal saw a win for Peter McNeil with a three-under-par round of 69 nett.

Paddy Milton finished second with 70 and Dennis Doano third with 71.

In the nine-hole stableford, Peter Taylor won on countback from Derek Lloyd with both recording 16 points.

Ted Smith was third with 14.

The ladies' scratch team of Diane Meakin, Grace Bowen, Ursula Pearson, Jackie Marks and Alison Tuck had a 5-0 victory at home over Redditch to record their first points of the season.
