MALVERN Town came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory at Newent Town in a pre-season friendly.

The visitors made all of the early running but Newent went ahead on 12 minutes after breaking through.

Malvern’s Aaron Griffiths and Ben Lane combined to deliver an inviting ball into the danger zone that evaded everyone before the hosts fired into the side-netting.

On another hot afternoon Louis Loader was off target with a free-kick for Malvern.

A sweet free-kick from Loader then rattled the bar on the half-hour mark before Lane headed just over and Matt Turner fired just wide.

Trailing by a single goal going into the second half, Turner looked to make something happen straight after the restart but was off target.

But on 55 minutes Matt Pinder fired home the equaliser from close range and then went close to doubling his tally just minutes later.

Town were starting to get well on top and Turner closed down the keeper well and as his clearance fell at the feet of Pinder he poked narrowly wide.

After Chris Parker went close Town finally went in front on 78 minutes as Harry Clarke’s effort was blocked by the keeper and Turner turned the ball home.

There was still time for a penalty five minutes from time which Pinder stepped up to slot home.
