PROMISING youngster Mark Taylor bagged a brace of awards at Ledbury Town’s annual presentation evening.

Taylor was voted players’ player of the season and clinched the top goalscorer prize after finding the net on six occasions for Town’s second-string side last term.

The managers’ awards went to first-team defender Matt Rooke and reserves ace Sam Branch.

After scoring 28 goals between appearances for the two sides last season Charlie Docherty scooped the other top goalscorer prize that evening.

Along with Taylor, Joe Bullock gained recognition from his peers as he landed the first-team's players’ player accolade.

The young player award went to Harri John after the young forward showed a huge increase in confidence playing upfront.

Club stalwart Curt Williams earned the most improved player gong for his high work rate and many well-taken set-pieces last season.

The special Spike Beale Memorial Shield, awarded for only the second time in memory of the staunch Ledbury Town supporter Spike, was presented to reserves player David Butcher for his continuing dedication to the club.

The evening’s final award, the Paul Welch Memorial Shield was awarded to club press officer Chris Ponter for his commitment to Ledbury over the last few years in taking photographs at games as well as producing weekly match reports and maintaining the their social media pages and website.

Club chairman John Preedy and general manager Phil Preedy paid tribute to the management team of Pat Locke, Dean Rutter, Nick Blakeway and Nat Dunk.

The first-team finished just a single point away from a top five placing in the Herefordshire FA County League Premier Division and reached the final of the Herefordshire FA Charity Bowl.

The reserves came ninth in Division One but only two points behind the three teams placed above them.

Additional thanks went to Jock and Jill Boyle for providing catering, Terry Fleetwood for manning the gate at home games, Jason Cale for his work as match secretary, Matthew Cale for additional photography, Tim Bullock for providing the awards, regular ball boys Daniel Layton, Thomas Fleetwood and Archie Fleetwood and Dylan Downward for offering to run the line at several home games.

The club also thanked Sheila and Ray Gladwin for providing the food for the evening and The Royal British Legion Ledbury for staging the ceremony.
