MALVERN Town Reserves put in a commanding display to win 8-0 at Marden in a pre-season friendly.

With two players called into the first team and a number away on holiday, Town looked well-organised on a hot afternoon and a bumpy surface.

Sam Daffin, Shaq Tulloch, Jake Churchill (2), Matty Degutis, Lanry Giwa, Sam Hayes and Max Bourne scored.

“It was a good performance,” said manager Peter Daffin.

“We were always in control and went in at the break three goals to the good.

“The conditions were difficult but our superior fitness levels showed after the break as we added five further goals.

“We were able to give a debut to Tereak Powell-Hoo who did really well while two 16 year-olds from the youth team Tyler Eley and Reece Jarvis put in excellent performances.

“It was another pre-season game full of positives for us.”

The under 18s won 2-0 against Dudley Town in a pre-season friendly.

Goals from Jack Neal and a sweet strike from Mitch Butterworth gave Stewart Watkins’ side a deserved victory on a muggy evening.

“We played really well,” said Watkins.

“Our passing was fantastic and we’re starting to look more clinical up front now.

“It was a good workout for us as we were able to try out a few different formations and because we have nine players away it gave us the opportunity to look at a few younger lads.

“They acquitted themselves well and I thought that 15-year-old Harvey James gave a particularly good account of himself in the middle of the park.

“There’s still work to be done but we are gathering momentum and the lads have been given a boost by seeing some of their team-mates given their chance in the first team in recent weeks.

“It really does give their confidence a lift and we’re in a good place right now.”

Toby Moran had an operation having suffered a serious injury in the last game.
