MALVERN Town hit back from two goals down to beat higher-ranked visitors Boldmere St Michaels 3-2 in their FA Cup extra preliminary round replay.

After the game ended 2-2 at Boldmere on Saturday, the HDAnywhere Community Stadium completed the job against the Midland League Premier Division side.

The visitors went ahead just before the half-hour mark when a defence-splitting pass from Cameron Gayle set Rikardo Reid away and he made no mistake.

Despite Malvern seeing plenty of the ball, Boldmere doubled their lead on half-time through Ryan Shaw's strike from distance.

But the hosts' early second-half pressure was rewarded on 51 minutes when a long ball forward found Matt Pinder in space and he stayed calm to fire home.

After Malvern had appeals for a penalty turned down, Pinder bagged the equaliser in the 66th minute.

West Midlands League outfit Town then went ahead for the first time on 71 minutes when a cross-field ball found Harry Clark who cut inside and slotted the ball low into the net.

With just three minutes left the floodlights failed but Malvern saw out the game after a 15-minute delay to earn a home tie with Racing Club Warwick on Saturday, August 25.

“It was amazing,” said co manager Dene Whittal-Williams. “It literally was a game of two halves.

“We gave the lads some stick at half-time because we weren’t showing enough passion and endeavour for each other.

“To their credit, the lads came out for the second half and showed much more energy, we broke well and scored three good goals.

“One of our team values is about aspiration and just because our opponents were from a higher level it doesn’t mean we can’t do a job against them.

“We want to be in that league and over the two games against Boldmere we have proved what we are capable of.”

Meanwhile, Stourport Swifts were held 0-0 at Sporting Khalsa in the Midland League Premier Division after a string of saves from home keeper Sam Arnold.

James Taylor scored as Pershore Town lost 3-1 at home to Bewdley Town in the West Midlands League Premier Division.
