Sent to Coventry to cap off fine season

LEDBURY director of rugby Bruce Ruthven is in confident mood ahead of tomorrow's crunch clash at Coventry knowing his side need a draw to clinch promotion.

The Ross Road side travel to Old Coventrians with promotion destiny in their own hands after an impressive series of wins, including a commanding 46-10 home win over Spartans on Saturday.

A seven-try victory sent the fans home happy, giving Ledbury the best possible momentum for their visit to third-placed Coventrians.

Both teams are equal on league points, but with Ledbury having a superior points difference, a draw will see Ledbury promoted.

Ruthven said: "We're relatively confident.

"We have won our last seven or eight league games on the bounce.

"Old Coventrians beat us at home 18-12 before Christmas, so we're up against it tomorrow.

"We're all working well. We have two or three guys missing with long-term injuries, but generally we are as strong as we can be.

"It's nice in a way that it's gone down to the last game of the season with everything to play for.

Ruthven was pleased with the overhaul of Spartans, claiming it gives them the best possible momentum for their final match.

He added: "Last Saturday's win was one of our best performances of the season.

"It gave us the ideal stepping stone for this match. It was a good confidence booster for us."

In a bid to provide a 16th man' for the Ledbury players, coaches are being provided for those supporters wishing to travel and cheer on Ruthvens' men for the Old Coventrians contest.
