ROSS’ membership has been boosted over the last year with an influx of new lady members.

The women’s captain Amanda Marshall held an informal gettogether so recruits could meet each other and the committee.

Her vice-captain Jeanette Forrester explained the aims of the section to promote a welcoming atmosphere for members whatever their standard.

Helen Palmer answered questions, the new 2012 golf rules were discussed and Rosemary Williams outlined her role as the county representative.

C’ team captain Judith Landau encouraged new members to sign up for friendly matches before members played nine holes.

The weekly competition was a foursomes stableford in difficult, icy conditions which was won by Jose Wilson and Wendy Harris with 34 points followed by Pat Beaman and Bridget Billington with 33.

• DESPITE some wintry weather, the four-ball alliance competition took place at The Worcestershire in Malvern Wells.

With two scores to count at each hole, the winners were Paul Ford (eight handicap), Phil Hirons (13), Paul Wakeley (12) and Mark Read (five) with 82 stableford points.
