WELLAND put in a composed display against Leckhampton Rovers to book a Cheltenham League Minor Charity Cup final place with a 3-2 win.

Leckhampton took an early lead against the run of play in Bishop’s Cleeve when their striker broke clear to side-foot past keeper Niall Hacking.

But Welland levelled eight minutes later when Lewis Dixon headed in from a fine James Lush corner.

Two minutes later, Rovers regained the lead when their winger expertly chipped the advancing Hacking.

Welland’s pressure was rewarded just before half-time when a 25-yard volley from captain Mark Taylor crashed into the back of the net following a poor clearance from a corner.

Both teams struggled against the harsh weather conditions in the second period with Welland’s defence and midfield standing firm.

Dixon went close twice more before sealing the victory with a superb solo effort after a Ben Pearson through-ball.

Welland then laboured to a 2-0 Division Five victory at Andoversford Reserves with Taylor opening the scoring just before the break with a 25-yard free-kick.

The visitors’ goal was untroubled and a header from Stephen Wood was disallowed before Matt Tedds coolly converted a fine pass in the 85th minute to confirm victory.
