HANLEY Swan entertained RSG for their final game of the Cheltenham League Division Three season and the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.

With the championship cup already safely tucked away, Hanley started slowly and conceded a goal early on as RSG scored from their first foray into the hosts’ half. The home team settled down after this and started playing the sort of football that has kept them at the top of the league.

The equaliser soon came form Jon Palmer who scored directly from a corner to make it 1–1 at half-time.

Hanley Swan started the second-half strongly and put the RSG goal under pressure time and again.

The deadlock was finally broken when Ollie Lewis got free down the left and scored with a fine shot.

Following some end-to-end play, RSG broke away and were awarded a free-kick from which they levelled to make the final score 2-2.

On Friday, May 11, Hanley will be playing against the club’s ‘Old Boys’ in the Alan Sutton memorial match (6.30pm). There will be a bar and barbecue and all monies raised from the event will go to St Richard’s Hospice.
