Motorsport - Rally co-driver prize up for grabs at raffle
2:50pm Friday 4th May 2012 in Sport
RALLYING enthusiasts can win the chance to co-drive in car number one on the Welsh Marches Mini-Epynt Stages Rally.
Darren Underwood, last year’s winner, is raffling the co-driver’s seat next to him with the proceeds going to The MacMillan Renton Unit and Hereford County Hospital and Wales Air Ambulance. Tickets are on sale from Herefordshire Motor Club.
Held over the tarmac roads of the military Epynt ranges, near Brecon, on Sunday, June 10, Underwood’s yellow 1,600cc Nova will lead away the field of 80 competitors.
Underwood’s regular co-driver, his wife Sue, is involved with the organisation of the event, so can not compete.
Darren Underwood said: “It makes perfect sense to raffle off Sue’s co-driver’s seat for the day.
We wanted to raise money for these two very worthy causes, so it’s an ideal situation really.”
Raffle tickets are £10 each and multiple tickets can be purchased.
For more information, visit herefordshiremotorclub.co.uk or contact the Underwoods on (01568) 709158 (evenings) or (07971) 510982.
Organisational plans for the fourth running of the event are well in hand with event regulations being available on-line from the club website as of May 8.
A total of 12 stages are on offer with 45 competitive miles, which offers an ideal introduction to the infamous Epynt roads.
Marshals are welcome to assist with the running of the rally, and if interested, please contact chief marshal Kevin Morris via the club website or Mike Pugh on (01432) 350427.
The action will begin at 9am and spectators are welcome with access via the military ranges off the A40 at Llywel, west of Brecon.
