LEDBURY club members pulled out all the stops to achieve two sterling victories, winning top visiting club at the Swindon open meet and retaining the Wyvern League Championship title for a record 10th year.
The Swindon meet saw the younger swimmers excel and Talesha Hunt, James Casewell, Lily Painter and Lauren Freestone achieved impressive personal best times to set the standard for the older competitors.
They responded by medalling in the majority of their races, with Lucy Stokes, Calypso Harvey, Alex Middleton, Hannah Casewell and Dani Fizgerald all winning gold.
In total, the Ledbury swimmers won 48 medals over the two days and added to their tally of regional qualification times.
They now enter the Midlands Regional Championships in Coventry with 49 qualifying times, a 10 per cent improvement on 2011.
The following weekend, six swimming clubs and 53 junior swimmers competed for the Wyvern League Championship and Ledbury excelled again to retain their substantial lead achieved over the competition season.
There were 21 new club records set in the completion.
The under 11/u girls relay team of Charlotte Hall, Caitlin Wild, Talesha Hunt and Poppy Park and the 11/u boys team comprising Sam Hall, Elliot Heath, Eric Harris and Lucas Dewe put in breath-taking performances for the club, setting new standards of excellence.
Ledbury’s lead was consolidated by the 15/u girls team Amber Wilkins, Casewell, Harvey and Fitzgerald who also won their relays.
The presentation was made by league chairman Alan Roberts to team captains Dani Fitzgerald and Alex Middleton.
Head coach of the Ledbury club, Chris Treanor, has been delighted by the success they are enjoying this year.
He said: “Every team member has played their part in helping the club achieve the historic win of the Wyvern League.
“We also have some outstanding individuals representing the club at the forthcoming regional championships with a real chance of national qualification.”
