Cricket - Duo on fire but squad still beaten

WORCESTER Nomads were knocked out in a close Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League semi-final tussle.

They went out to Belbroughton at Prince Henry’s High School after losing just one more wicket.

Nomads lost their opening batsman in the second over but Liam O’Driscoll and Steve Bowman consolidated matters with a 50- run partnership.

When they both retired, the middle order had problems with accurate bowling which restricted the total.

Belbroughton made a slow start and, with only 58 runs scored after eight overs, they were well behind the clock.

In the penultimate over, they smashed 19 runs to leave only eight required and eventually four were needed off the last ball.

Three runs tied the match but that put Belbroughton through to the final with only three wickets down.

Ashton-under-Hill beat them in the final after seeing off Droitwich Spa in the semis.
