Rovers wrack up silverware

THE trophy cabinet is filling up for Ledbury Swifts Rovers Under 11s after they capped a fine season.

Stirling Herefordshire Junior League champions Swifts claimed the plaudits at Ross Juniors’ Adam Stansfield tournament in their first nine-a-side football matches.

They won four out of five group fixtures to claim a place in the final against the hosts, winning 3-2 on penalties after drawing 1-1.

Player-of-the-season Osian McCarthy converted the decisive spot-kick.

They were also voted team-of-the-year at the presentation evening for the club, who hold their annual meeting on Sunday at Ross Road (7.30pm). Events are planned to mark their 25th anniversary next season, including an evening with football legend Barry Fry.
