Lewis is crowned as singles champion

MANOR Park held an exciting annual club finals day which proved successful despite plenty of rain.
The ladies’ singles was won by last year’s runner-up, 18- year-old Pippa Lewis, who triumphed 7-5, 7-5 against Ellie Fleming, 14.
Mike Marks defeated Paul Burgess in the men’s final 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 after a tie-break.
Marks teamed up with Chris Skinner to beat Paul Burgess and Rory Guilding 7-6, 6-2 in the men’s doubles.
In the women’s doubles, Jenny Poole and Nicky Perrins retained their title against Ali Tuck and Ali Kirkwood 7-5, 3-6, 10-7.
The family doubles saw Nicky and Pete Clarke see off Xac and Tobie Timmermans 6-4, 6-3.
Nicky Clarke and Skinner beat Burgess and Fleming 7-6, 6-3 in the mixed doubles.
In the men’s over 60 doubles, Peter Sturrock and James Noon defended their trophy by defeating Tom Hurley and Nick Hall 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
In close singles plate finals, Paula Daniel defeated Tracey Morgan and Simon Kilminster beat Pete Clarke 1-6, 7-6, 11-9 in tie-breaks.
The women’s doubles plate saw Linda Horniblow and Vicki Hartwright retain their title 6-1, 6-1 and Pippa Lewis, with her father Steve, won the mixed doubles plate.
In the mini-tennis roundrobin, the nine and under winners were Stephanie Combe and Reece Taylor Lock. The 10 and under boys’ winner was Chad Warren.
Nicky Clarke kept her 15 and under crown after battling it out with Fleming.
Paddy Hyde won the 13 and under boys’ singles and the doubles with Harry Chadwick.
He also teamed up with Simon Wikeley to be runnerup in the 15 and under boys’ doubles against Tobie Timmermans and Adam Stanton after a third-set tie-break.
Timmermans took the 15 and under singles and the 17 and under mixed doubles with 11-year-old Georgina Cupper against Simon and Ellen Wikeley in a tie-break.
Cupper also won in the 12 and under girls with Jamie Hiley taking the boys’ title.
OTHER WINNERS Mixed 45 doubles: J Poole and R Guilding; mixed 45 doubles plate: J Noon and L Horniblow.
