Harris is winner of Malvern Club Cup

MALVERN United Angling Association members competed for their Club Cup at the Withes pool, part of the Evesham Jubilee fishery.

Dave Harris benefitted from a more secluded peg and caught carp of about three pounds consistently to finish with a winning weight of 23-8-0.

In second place was Mike Cooper who, after a blank first half of the match, started to catch with increasing regularity towards the end to weigh in 16-4-0.

Richard Gilks also started to catch some carp towards the end of the match to come third with 9-6-0.

Results: Dave Harris 23-8-0, Mike Cooper 16-4-0, Richard Gilks 9-10-0, Mick Harris 8-6-0, John Shaw 8-1-0, Dave Wilkes 5-3-0, Ken Yates 4-8-0, Richard Web-ster 4-6-0, Graham Rees 4-3-0, Chris Loveridge 2-8-0.

Meanwhile, the Angling Trust, the representative body for angling in the UK, is holding a fishing forum at Ombersley Memorial Hall on Wednesday, September 26 at 6.30pm. The theme will be Steps to Improving Fish Stocks in the Severn. All anglers are welcome, but must register by e-mailing john.cheyne@anglingtrust.net
