Tennis - Manor Park aces shine at mixed doubles
SUNSHINE at last poured on Manor Park as they ran their end-of-season mixed doubles tournament.
Twenty-one pairs competed in four pools followed by a barbecue and a presentation to the cup winners from the summer club tournament.
The Red Group winners were Ben Westwood and Jane Smallwood, while John Byrne and Rachel Cupper took the Blue honours.
Chris Barr Hamilton and Tracey Morgan led the way in the Orange Group and Ian Monaghan and Pai Michelsen claimed the Green equivalent.
Meanwhile, the Malvern branch of Save the Children held their annual tournament at Manor Park. The winners were Jenny Poole and Alison Tuck ahead of Sue Dodswell and Elaine Fleming. Poole and Tuck go on to the Tennis Cup preliminary rounds at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton, on Saturday, October 13, with the finals on the following day. The Malvern tournament raised £563 for the cause.
