Pearson’s double is enough to seal win

A LATE double strike from Jack Pearson helped Leigh and Bransford Badgers snatch a 3-2 victory from the jaws of defeat against previously unbeaten and second in the table home side, Hornets Reserves, in Worcester and District Sunday League Division Five.

Young Nick Medakovic jinked past two Hornets defenders, only to be upended by a third as he bore in on the home goal. Andy Harris stepped up to calmly slot home his second spot kick in as many weeks.

The Hornets pressed and duly got their reward from a corner that was prodded home from close range.

With 15 minutes remaining, the game took another twist as the hosts edged ahead when a neat lob by the Hornets'

striker sailed over keeper Jacob Hooper to give his side the lead.

With time running out, Badgers’ veteran player-manager, Bosko Medakovic replaced Ben Lloyd up front. Within seconds of the change, the 48-year-old striker’s first touch saw him set up Pearson, who drilled home a deserved equaliser from just outside the box.

The Badgers sensed a third and this duly came from a corner. Bosko Medakovic challenged the keeper and defender for the ball. As these players came together, the ball landed kindly for Pearson to tap home a dramatic late winner.
