Hockey - Dipsticks struggle to find the target

MALVERN Dipsticks hockey team began their new season with a 2-2 draw at home to Winchcombe.

The Dips had to wait 20 minutes before they took the lead when a good move was emphatically finished by Chris Edwards thrashing the ball in to the back of the net.

Had the hosts taken the plethora of chances they created, it could have been over by half-time, but their shooting radar was slightly off.

Winchcombe did their part as the frustration grew for Dips and they played some direct hockey which paid off when they equalised with a strong finish.

The second-half continued in a similar fashion to the first, with the home side not capitalising on their dominance, until some nice interplay resulted in a goal for Alex Dakin.

However, the lead lasted only minutes as the the Dips midfield lost concentration and let Winchcombe wander forward without a strong challenge to let in a soft goal.
