Injuries hit Upton
11:00am Saturday 13th October 2012 in Sport
UPTON’S Midlands Two West (South) season continues to falter after a disappointing 43-12 loss to fellow strugglers Leamington.
Going into the game the Spa town side had lost all three games and scored only 14 points all season, so it should have been a close game for Upton. But once again injuries and unavailability are killing the south Worcestershire side’s strive for consistency.
Upton’s achilles’ heel was exposed as Leamington scored five tries before halftime to make the score 33-0.
Upton started to throw caution to the wind and were rewarded with a try after a number of powerful bursts from the pack allowed Chris O’Neil to go from 10 metres out and score.
The impressive Flower then made an outside break and fed 18-year-old winger Joe Ayres, who showed tremendous pace and power to score. A tiring Upton side leaked another two tries to Leamington late in the game.
