WORCESTER Nomads ‘A’ retained top position with a 23-run win in Worcestershire Indoor Cricket League Worcester Division One.

The Bransford side were restricted to an average 117-5 but Eastnor’s batsmen failed to take advantage in their reply of 94-4.

Raheel Lone caught Lewis Austin (13) and Ryan Tongue (23) was run out before Tom Mills had to retire on 25 in the eighth over. The runs dried up with new batsmen and more wickets fell before the returning Mills and Rich Henry blasted 31 runs from the last two overs.

Eastnor lost two wickets in the fifth over with Clive Chadhani making 15.

Lone (21) and Tareq Jamil (30) were too far behind the required run-rate as Tongue took 2-13.

Avoncroft (137-2) beat Royal Grammar School Worcester (128-5) by nine runs in the other game in the division.

In Division Two, Worcester Nomads ‘C’ (137-2) beat Martley (134-2) by three runs after being gifted plenty of wides.

Bromsgrove (111-2) lost to title-chasing Old Vigornians (113-2).

West Malvern and Malvern meet in Division Two on Monday, while Worcester Nomads ‘B’ tackle Old Elizabethans in Division One on Sunday.
